Originally from Puerto Rico, Jennifer Lopez took singing and dancing lessons at the age of 5 years, following an education in Catholic schools. She decided to go into show business at the age of 18 and she first appeared in the television series “In Living Colour”. After several more TV appearances and an uncredited appearance in “My Family” (1995), she moved to movies, appearing in the thriller “Money Train” alongside Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson. Two years later, she imposed her Hispanic charm in Oliver Stone’s “U-Turn, Here Begins Hell”. Jennifer Lopez became truly famous after her appearance in “Selena”, a biographical drama about the life of a popular Mexican singer.
Jennifer Lopez made a trademark from her roles in romantic comedies ("The Wedding Planner","Maid in Manhattan") and thrillers in which she plays young women of strong character ("The Cell", "Angel Eyes", "Never"). From 2005, she appeared in several movies in the company of big stars of the screen. After teaching Richard Gere to tango in “Shall We Dance”, she was Jane Fonda’s daughter-in-law in “Monster” and starred in “An Unfinished Life” with Robert Redford. In 2010, Jennifer Lopez appeared in the romantic comedy "Plan B", where she played a young woman about to be inseminated, alongside actor Alex O'Loughlin.
Jennifer’s debut album, "On the 6", was released in 1999 and contained “If You Had My Life”, which was her first number one in Billboard Hot 100. Her second album, “J. Lo”, started as a number one in Billboard 200 and included the number one single “Love Don’t Cost a Thing”. Jennifer released several albums in the 2000s, including “This is Me..Then” (2002), Rebirth (2005) and her first album sung entirely in Spanish, “Como Ama Una Mujer” (2007).
Jennifer’s personal life has been in the news since the early 2000s, when the eyes of the world were on her relationship with Ben Affleck. In 2005, she married salsa star Marc Anthony and had twins in 2008. She announced her divorce from Marc Anthony in 2011.
